Curriculum

The Importance of Learning Through Play...

...informs all aspects of our curriculum. For example, art activities help to develop self-expression and improve fine motor skills. Cooking projects teach mathematical concepts, and encourage healthy eating habits. Children are introduced to science through "hands-on" experience, observation and fun experiments. Music is enjoyed while singing and playing musical instruments at play and during circle time. Unstructured free play allows for individual exploration and group play. And every day includes books, fingerplays, or felt stories to encourage a love of language and words.

Inside

Several indoor areas invite creative and imaginative play: a dress-up area, a wonderful kitchen and playhouse, a well-stocked reading corner, a puppet theater, and painting easels. Other activities available include blocks, dolls, trains, cars, musical instruments, puzzles, playdough, water and sand tables, and journals.

Outside

Outdoor play is an essential feature of every session, rain or shine. Our outstanding playground is designed and equipped to meet the children’s innate need to climb, run, jump and energetically move their bodies.

Special Days

We plan many special days for the children throughout the year. Swim parties, ice skating, tobogganing, and "backwards-silly" day to name just a few. We explore our own community with field trips to the grocery store, walks to the park and other age appropriate outings. And twice a year, children can invite someone they love to join them for "Special Person’s" day at the school. We also celebrate most holiday events with special developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
